Safe Tips for Litter Clean-Up

  • Stay mentally alert at all times and work in safe areas. Be mindful of traffic.
  • Do not pick up any sharp objects, e.g. needles, syringes, metal, broken glass, etc.
  • Do not pick up any objects that cannot be identified. Flag them for pick up by Public Works staff.
  • Work in daylight hours.
  • Do not work in ravine areas or near water channels or water bodies.
  • Wear hats, sunscreen and protective clothing, e.g. boots and gloves.
  • Drink lots of fluids while you work, especially on hot humid days.
