
ATTENTION RESIDENTS RESIDING IN THE ASIAN LONG-HORNED BEETLE (ALHB) REGULATED AREA

Ministenal Order
In February 2004, the federal Minister of Agriculture and
Agri-food issued a Ministerial Order under the Plant Protection Act and Regulations to prevent the spread of the Asian Long-horned Beetle in Canada.
Under this order, the movement of firewood, trees, leaves, nursery stock, logs, lumber, wood chips and bark chips from certain tree species is prohibited or restricted within the Regulated Area. In Vaughan, this area is borderd by Steeles Ave; Hwy 27; Rutherford Road & Dufferin St. (refer to above map).
To comply with the federal Ministerial Order, the Regional Municipality of York must process this material within the 'Regulated Area.
Collection and drop-off restrictions for leaf and yard waste material
Collection:
Should you reside in the ALHB regulated area, special leaf and yard collection restrictions may apply. Should special collection restrictions be required, residents will be informed via the City's website or mobile signs.
Drop-off (by appointment only):
Those living and conducting business within the
affected area must deliver their wood, leaves and yard
waste to the Region of York’s Asian Long Horned
Beetle drop-off location.
Location: 8020 Dufferin Street in Vaughan, just south of Highway
407 on the west side. The site is the City of Vaughan
Public Works Yard.
Hours to Receive Loads: Monday mornings
and Wednesday afternoons. By appointment only.

Material Accepted: nursery stock,
trees, logs, lumber, wood, wood chips or bark chips
from broad-leaf deciduous trees, leaves and yard waste
within the Asian Long Horned Beetle Regulated Area.
