Blue Box Recycling - Set Out Requirements
Set your recyclables out in accordance to the City's recycling program requirements. Fines may be issued for non compliance.

Collection day:

Recycling is collected ONCE A WEEK on your scheduled collection day. Refer to the collection schedule to determine your collection day.

Collection time:
Place your waste materials at the curb no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the night before collection and no later than 7:00 a.m. the day of collection. The time of collection in your area may change at any time without notice.

Placement of materials:

For easy identificaiton by the collection contractor, please have clear separation for each waste stream (i.e: leaf and yard, recycling etc.)

Ensure all waste materials placed out for collection are in accordance with the City's set out requirements.

Please place your collectible waste materials at the curb for collection. Do not place collectible materials on the road, as it may pose a hazard to vehicular traffic.

Keep waste materials separate from your neighbours.

Do not overfill your blue box.

Where possible, secure materials (i.e. newsprint) that may blow away.

  Winter placement of materials:
SNOWBANKS: Please ensure your blue boxes, green bins and garbage items are at the curb (i.e. on or beside your driveway) on your designated collection day. Do not place your waste materials on top of or behind snowbanks as it can be difficult for the collection contractor to access, and may cause waste materials to spill onto the roadway. Waste materials placed on and/or behind snowbanks will be refused collection.

SET BACK FROM ROAD: During heavy snowfalls waste materials must be set back from the curb side approximately 0.9 metres (3 ft.) and placed on the right side of the driveway (the side that is on the right when facing the house). This set out requirement helps prevent waste materials from being knocked over or buried by snow clearing operations.
