Leaf & Yark - Christmas Tree Collection

Reminder:
Set your Christmas tree out in accordance to the City’s Christmas tree collection requirements. 

Collection day:

Christmas tree collection occurs on your regular collection day during a predetermined two week time frame in January.  Refer to the collection schedule for your specific collection dates.

Collection time:

Place your Christmas trees at the curb no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the night before collection and no later than 7:00 a.m. the day of collection. The time of collection in your area may change at any time.

Placement of materials:

Christmas trees buried in snow banks may not get pick-up.  Ensure trees are accessible

For easy identification for the contractor, please have clear separation for each waste stream
Ensure all materials place out for collection are in accordance with the City’s set out requirements
Please place your collectable materials at the curbside for collection.  Do not place collectible materials on the road, as it may pose a hazard to vehicular traffic
Keep waste materials separate from your neighbours

Prepare trees properly:

Remove all tinsel, ornaments, plastic bags and tree stands


Permitted length:

Christmas trees can be no larger than 2.13 m. (7 ft.).  Christmas trees larger than 2.13 m. (7 ft.) must be cut in half.  Large tree can not fit into our collection vehicles.

Forgot to put your Christmas tree out for collection?
If you miss your Christmas tree collection dates, your can take your tree to the Compost Facility (no charge) or wait until the start of the City’s Spring leaf and yard collection program.  Please see the Compost Facility section in this website for the compost facility location and hours of operation.
