Blue Box Recycling - Purchasing Containers?

Set your recyclables out in accordance to the City's recycling program requirements. Fines may be issued for non compliance.

Where do I get a blue box?
  1. Public Works Department, Joint Operations Centre:
    2800 Rutherford Rd.
    Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Closed Statutory holidays.



  2. Participating Community Centres:
    • Al Palladini Community Centre; 9201 Islington Ave.
    • Dufferin Clark Community Centre; 1441 Clark Ave. West
    • Garnet A. Williams Community Centre; 510 Clark Ave. West
    • Maple Community Centre; 10190 Keele St.
    • Vellore Village Community Centre; 1 Villa Royale Ave.
    • North Thornhill Community Centre; 300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.
  3. The City's Annual Environmental Day Events
    Typically 5 events held each year. Contact us for event dates.
  4. Retail Outlets
    Participating retail outlet also sell green bins and blue boxes. Green bins and blue boxes purchased from retail outlets must be similar (i.e. size, style) to those sold by the City of Vaughan

Cost of Blue Box
16 gallon blue boxes purchased from the City are $7.00 each. Prices are subject to change. The cost of blue boxes purchased from retail outlets will vary.
Accepted payments: cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Direct Debit

Note: Residents purchasing a home from a builder (in a new subdivision) may obtain two (2) no charge blue boxes from the City. To be eligible, residents must show identification and their Tarion Agreement. This service is ONLY available at the Joint Operations Centre and the City's annual Environmental Day Events.

Refund policy:
The City does not issue refunds for green bins, blue boxes, garbage tags, backyard composters or kitchen containers. Click here for a copy of our Refund Policy.

Replacements:
No charge replacements are only provided for damaged City-issued green bins and blues boxes. These no charge replacements are only available at the Joint Operations Centre and the City's annual Environmental Day Events held throughout the year.

Residents must bring in their damaged green bin / blue box to be eligible for a no charge replacement.

The City does not replace lost or stolen green bins / blue boxes or damaged green bins / green bins obtained from other municipalities or retail outlets.

Reminders:
Proof or residency / occupancy is required when purchasing items from the City.

The City does not deliver green bins, blue boxes, garbage tags, backyard composters or kitchen containers.
