Record crowds are expected to attend the City of Vaughan?s 20th anniversary Winterfest, presented by TD Canada Trust, on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Vellore Village Community Centre located at 1 Villa Royale Avenue in Woodbridge.
?Winterfest is a family-themed celebration that provides exciting activities and entertainment for everyone to enjoy,? said Mayor Linda Jackson. ?We are thrilled to feature the calibre of performers like The Backyardigans and all activities at no charge to our residents.? Winterfest will feature free entertainment on the outdoor Tim Hortons stage with performances by The Backyardigans ? VIP Appearance at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Other outdoor entertainment will include an exciting trampoline show with national champions displaying amazing trampoline skills on skis and snowboards at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. The Official Welcome with the Mayor and Members of Council will take place at 10:30 a.m. A free Kidz Zone will feature midway rides, face painting, children?s dog cart rides, Messy hands bus, Earth Rangers and Vaughan Public Libraries family story time. Other activities will include horse-drawn wagon rides, pleasure skating and Little OBIE CN Safety Train Rides. Great food will be available for purchase from Boston Pizza and the BBQ Gourmet. There is no parking at the event site.
