The City of Vaughan is currently hiring summer day camp counsellors, coaches, specialists and senior staff for camps beginning June 29, 2009. Camp staff are responsible for planning programs, instructing and engaging youth and providing them with a fun and memorable summer experience.
?Summer day camp employment develops the relevant life skills employers are looking for, such as communication, leadership and teamwork,? said Mayor Linda Jackson. ?These jobs also provide an opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth by encouraging active living and community involvement.? Applicants interested in summer day camp employment will be given the opportunity to complete and submit employment applications and demonstrate their skills during on-the-spot interviews held by City staff. The summer camp jobs interview open house is scheduled for Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Vellore Village Community Centre, located at 1 Villa Royale Avenue, Woodbridge (Weston Road, north of Rutherford Road). Applicants must bring their resum? and two references. Application forms will be provided on-site. Individuals interested in summer day camp jobs must be 16 years of age by June 20, 2009 and have experience working with children, preferably in a day camp setting. Applicants must be available for up to ten weeks of employment and attend High Five training prior to the start of camps. Interested applicants should note that Life Saving Society Standard First Aid and Vulnerable Sector Screening (i.e., a police reference check) are not required for the interview process. Candidates are only required to submit proof of certification once they are offered a position.
