The Vaughan Vision 2020 Successes Meeting held recently allowed residents to offer their views on the City’s future direction. Participants learned about the City’s major milestones and achievements for 2008 and 2009, and they provided comments on the City’s priorities for 2010.
“The October 20 Forum generated great dialogue and discussion on issues of interest to members of the community,” said Regional Councillor Mario Ferri, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. “This type of public engagement, where people who care strongly about our City express a keen interest in our strategic planning process, ensures that the direction in which the City is going remains current and relevant.” The strategic plan, which sets out the City’s goals and objectives, assists Vaughan Council in setting budget priorities, evaluating programs and delivering services. At the 2008 Successes Meeting reporting back to the community was identified by residents as a very important part of the process. Based on that request the City published its 2008 Successes Report and the format of the October 20th meeting included a verbal report on past successes, as well as opportunities for participants to provide feedback on the issues currently facing the community. “As a municipality, we can be proud of the success we have had in delivering quality services and innovative programs to our residents and businesses,” said Mayor Linda Jackson. “The strategic plan is a key contributor to this success as it provides a clear vision of our aspirations as a great city.” For more information on the strategic planning process please visit Vaughan Vision 2020 at www.vaughan.ca under Quick Links. |
