Vaughan Recognized For Water Quality Print E-mail
Monday, 02 November 2009

The City of Vaughan has received top marks for its tap water, following an accreditation process conducted by the Province of Ontario. The City’s “stand alone” water distribution system is the first in Ontario to have an on-site inspection, be accredited by the Canadian General Standards Board, and receive a Municipal Drinking Water Licence and Drinking Water Works Permit from the Ministry of the Environment.

“I would like to recognize and congratulate our staff for a solid team effort,” said Mayor Linda Jackson. “Our municipal tap water is a safe and reliable source of drinking water for residents and businesses in Vaughan. Tap water is inexpensive and has a much lower environmental impact than bottled water, without an empty container being recycled or ending up in landfill.”

The City of Vaughan’s water quality received two perfect scores from the provincial Ministry of the Environment after performing inspections in September on the Vaughan and Kleinburg water distribution systems.

“This is a significant achievement for the City of Vaughan and speaks to the quality and knowledge of our staff and water system operators,” said Bill Robinson, Commissioner of Engineering and Public Works.
