- The city centre will be a major focal point for the City. It
will also be a regional centre and an urban growth centre in Ontario.
- The full area of the district around the centre is 607 hectares.
This is the largest and most ambitious development project in
Vaughan’s history.
- The centre will offer all the amenities of the urban lifestyle:
restaurants, cafes, hotels, shops, entertainment venues, as well
as beautiful squares, green space, pedestrian walkways and bicycle
networks.
- There is excellent accessibility from Highway 400 or Highway
407, connecting to three major highways.
- Well-serviced by public transit, including VIVA Transit and
a subway linking Vaughan to downtown Toronto
- The largest rail facilities for both national carriers, Canadian
National and Canadian Pacific, are located in Vaughan.
- Close proximity to the nation’s largest and busiest international
airport, Lester B. Pearson International Airport
- The Vaughan City Centre is an area of 51 hectares.
- This area will accommodate up to 603,870 square metres of gross
floor area, including residential, office and commercial space.
- By 2021 the City centre district will provide about 30,000 jobs
and accommodate a resident population of more than 5,000 people.
