| pedestrian and bicycle master plan |
| |
In 2007, the City of Vaughan adopted the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan to make improvements to a network of existing and proposed pedestrian and bicycle trails. The recommendations in this plan will become part of 'Vaughan Tomorrow,' the City's integrated Growth Management Strategy that will guide future development to 2031. |

| Implementation |
The Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan requires the participation of several City departments; however, construction of this network will be shared jointly by the Parks Development Department and the Development/Transportation Engineering Department.
Expansion of the City's network of off-road trails includes new connecting trails between destination points, such as Elder's Mills Nature Reserve and Maple Nature Reserve. Since the plan's approval more than 13 kms of trail has been added or brought up to City standard. Several new sections of trail, including restoration of the Maple Nature Reserve, is planned for 2010. |
