CENTRE STREET STUDY
Purpose:
The purpose of the Thornhill Centre Street Study is to provide an
up-to-date planning and urban design policy framework to guide development
in the Study Area. There have been several applications for zoning
and Official Plan Amendments within the corridor since the approval
of the Thornhill Community Plan 17 years ago.
Timeframe:
The study began in January 2004 and was completed in June 2004.
Current Status:
On June 28, 2004, Council approved a resolution receiving the draft
Study report and directing a Public Hearing be scheduled in September
2004. Official Plan
Amendments #671 and #672 are approved. They establish the
policy framework to guide development consistent with the
recommendations of the study, including policy provisions
addressing land use, urban design and streetscaping. Both
OPAs came into force in July 2005. They establish the policy framework to guide development consistent with the recommendations of the study, including policy provisions addressing land use, urban design guidelines and streetscaping.
These guidelines and streetscaping rare now the focus of the Centre Street Corridor Urban Design Guidelines and Streetscape Master Plan Study.
