Profile Sandra Yeung Racco doesn’t take her motto lightly. Indeed, every initiative she has pursued in seven years of representing the constituents of Ward 4 has been ‘For the Community’.
Between building an array of new parks; leading art, culture and diversity initiatives; and working with other levels of government to bring the Subway outside of Toronto’s borders and into Concord/Thornhill – a historic first – Sandra has done it all for the community.
Born in Hong Kong and raised in North York, Sandra developed an acute appreciation for the arts after studying music and achieving her A.R.C.T. Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music and graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music.
Her career has taken many different directions since then: after an extensive career in music, Sandra ventured into the world of business, working with multinational corporations in the areas of investment and executive recruitment. She gained significant experience in international business relations, dealing with investors across the Pacific Rim Region and developing an understanding of the needs of business communities around the globe. But it was her volunteer work with local non-profit community organizations and her experience working with diverse boards and committees across Toronto and Concord/Thornhill that endowed her with a nuanced appreciation of the fabric of the local community.
As a result, Sandra–a mother of four–has a unique and diverse palate of experience that blends business, the arts, international business relations, the importance of family and, most importantly, a sensitive understanding of the complex needs and priorities of Ward 4 residents.
Coupled with her proven record of cultivating lasting relationships with community stakeholders, her tireless focus on addressing the needs of local youth and seniors, and her commitment to delivering results for the residents of Ward 4, it is clear Sandra is prepared to continue building a vibrant and livable community for her constituents.
