To obtain an application form, required documents and applicable fees, please contact the Licensing Department at 905-832-8504.

3. How do I obtain a marriage license?

To obtain an application form, required documents and applicable fees, please contact the Licensing Department at 905-832-8504.

4. How do I register a birth?

In the case of births that occur in the City of Vaughan, all relevant documents are assembled, recorded and forwarded to the Registrar General's office. There is currently no charge for this service.

As the City does not have a hospital within its municipal boundaries, we are only registering home births. If your child was born at York Central Hospital, for example, you need to register the child's birth with the Town of Richmond Hill.

The City needs two documents to register a birth - Form 1 Notice of Live Birth and Form 2 Statement of Live Birth. Form 1 is completed by the medical practitioner/midwife and forwarded to the City Clerk's Department as is Form 2, which is completed by the parent(s). The two forms are matched, reviewed and sent to the Province.

5. Who can I call regarding property assessment?

You can call the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation at 1-800-263-3224.

6. Does the City recognize special wedding anniversaries or birthdays?

Yes - The City of Vaughan issues certificates recognizing wedding anniversaries starting at 40 years, birthdays starting at 70 years, and business anniversaries starting at 10 years. Requests of this nature should be addressed to the office of the Mayor at least two weeks prior to the event. To make an online certificate request, click here.

7. Do I have to get my dog licensed?

To obtain an application form, required documents and applicable fees, please contact the Enforcement Services Department's Animal Shelter at 905-832-8505. To obtain a cat or dog license online, click here.

8. How do I have a document sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths?

The document must be fully completed. Do not sign the document. Call the Clerk's department to confirm that a Commissioner of Oaths will be available. Commissioners may not always be available and you may have to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time. You will be required to provide photo identification and make a declaration stating that the contents of the document is true, before signing the document in front of the Commissioner of Oaths. The commissioning fee is $26.00 for the first document (+HST) and $16.00 for each additional document (+HST).

9. How do I make a request for information?
