Vaughan Firefighter Combat Team
including The World Champion Women's Relay Team
The Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service's Firefighter
Combat Challenge Team consists of a group of the city's professional
firefighters. In addition to their ongoing fire, rescue and first-aid
training, these firefighters work to maintain top physical condition
to better serve their community and to compete in the Challenge.
The team travels throughout North America competing in events, striving
to qualify for the World Championship!
The Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service's Firefighter
Combat Challenge Team is looking forward to this year’s season.
Vaughan is the current Women's Relay World Champions. They won their
second straight title in Memphis, setting a new world record.
Firefighter Belanger is the current Canadian Champion and Firefighter
Cox was the 2001 Canadian Rookie of the Year. The men's team
also has a third place finish in a US regional.
The team’s season starts off in Niagara Falls in June.
The World Champion women's relay team will be racing and the men's
relay team will makes it's debut. Our rookies will be finding
out if they have what it takes to compete in the Toughest Two
Minutes in Sports.
The Combat Challenge is a great sport, an awesome
incentive to get back into shape and has excellent camaraderie.
The team has secured some sponsors to offset some of the team’s
expenses. The team also participates in many fundraising events
for local and national charities.
