Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department oversees pruning, mulching, fertilizing and replacements of all boulevard and park trees. Call 905-832-8577.

Answer: The Parks & Forestry section will have staff inspect the damage and advise on the necessary repairs.

Answer: If this is in at an existing park or boulevard the Parks Dept. maintains a bi-weekly cutting rotation. If it appears as though this location has been missed we’ll pass your enquiry along to the Manager of Parks. New subdivisions are the responsibility of the developer. If the area is unassumed contact Engineering Department at 905-832-8525.
Question: There are weeds/dandelions in the existing park adjacent to my home.
Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department will be cutting the grass regularly to prevent excessive growth of weeds. Some wards in the City of Vaughan are pesticide free.
Question: My neighborhood park has been vandalized.
Answer: Please call the Call the Parks Department or call the “Vandalism Hotline” 905-879-4357 or By-Law at 905-832-8505.
Question: I wanted to report that the playground in my neighborhood park has been damaged.
Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department has a program to check playgrounds on a regular basis for damages. We appreciate a call between visits for emergency repairs and will inspect immediately. Call 905-832-8577.
Question: Are parks patrolled in the evening for vandalism, or loitering?
Answer: Yes. By-law officers patrol, the parks. Please contact the City of Vaughan Dispatch 905-832-2281 ext. 8807 and for after hours call number 905-832-2281 & press 0 and a by-law officer will come out to investigate. Also you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Question: The fence along the walkway has fallen.
Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department will inspect/investigate and determine a course of action if the City is responsible. Fences are generally built on private property and are the homeowner’s responsibility.
Question: My boulevard tree has a wasp/bees nest.
Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department should be advised. A contractor will be notified to remove/spray nests in boulevard/park city trees.
Question: It’s summer time and I would like to find a park with an outdoor water feature or tennis court.
Answer: The water play area are open from July 1 to Sept. 1 and are located throughout the city. For a location near you, please contact the Parks & Forestry Department who will provide you with the location/hours and parks features.

Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department maintenance of soccer/baseball fields are to quality standards. We will investigate your concern.

Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department maintains the availability/ purchasing/location of plots in City owned cemeteries. Also monuments for graves– restrictions/prices. Call 905-832-8577.

Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department is actively involved in the sidewalk snow clearing and parking lot clearing of all facilities such as community centres, libraries parks, walkways, bus shelters.

Answer: If you feel that the City has damaged your property and you are requesting reimbursement, a claim must be filed to the Clerk’s Dept. within 5 working days (or fax at #905-832-8535). The Parks & Forestry Department will inspect as well. Please note that no obstructions are allowed on City owned boulevards.
Question: My loved one has passed away and I would like to dedicate a tree.
Answer: The Parks & Forestry Department has a “tree dedication program” in place. Please contact Parks & Forestry Dept. at 905-832-8577.
Question: We are planning to put in a pool and need to access through the park.
Answer: Once you have received the necessary permit from Building Standards phone number 905-832-8510. Please contact the Parks Department who will conduct a site inspection. Restoration will be required by the permit holder and a security deposit in the amount $2,000.00 is necessary.
Question: My neighbor’s tree branches are overhanging on my property. Can I trim it?
Answer: The City of Vaughan does not get involved with matters concerning private property. If the tree is causing damage contact by-Law Enforcement at 905-832-8505.

Answer: The Boyd Conservation Park belongs to the Toronto Region & Conservation Authority. Please call contact 416-667-6299.
Question: Who can I call about park related matters after 4:30 p.m.
Answer: Contact the City of Vaughan After Hours Dispatch at 905-832-2281 ext. 8807 and ask them to pass on your concern to the evening Parks Supervisor (Mon.-Fri. 3p.m. -11p.m.)
