Key Responsibilities of the Parks Operations and Forestry

The Parks and Forestry Operations are responsible for the following functions & tasks:

• Park Maintenance Operations (debris, grass cutting, trimming, seeding/sodding, weed removal, shrub pruning)

• Urban Forestry and Woodlot maintenance (tree/shrub replacements, pruning, mulching)

• Premium & Non-Premium Sports Field Maintenance (fertilization, aerations/overseeding topdressing, repairs, nets)

• Horticulture (flower beds, plants, hanging baskets)

• Contract Management (maintenance contracts such as boulevards, supply contracts, etc.)

• Winter sidewalk, bus shelter and facilities snow clearing

• Services in kind and event set-up

• Assumption reviews of trees and park equipment

• Cemetery maintenance and interments

• Playscape inspection and repair

• Open space maintenance

• Park patrol supervision
