Description of Services:
The mandate of the Cultural Services Division of the Vaughan Recreation
and Culture Department is to assist in the preservation and management
of Vaughan's Cultural and Informational Resources.
The Cultural Services unit is responsible for the development and
delivery of cultural policies, programmes and opportunities. The
division, through the City of Vaughan Archives and in conjunction
with Records Management Section of the City Clerk's Department,
is also tasked with the development of Corporate information management
policy and managing the recorded information of the municipal government
of the City of Vaughan. As well, Cultural Services Division provides
technical advice to several advisory committees to City Council:
the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee, Heritage Vaughan, and the
Woodbridge Community Museum Advisory Board (to be established);
as well as three internal committees: Sign Variance Committee; Information/Records
Management Standards Committee; and Records Retention Committee.
The provision of Cultural and Informational Services furnish substantial
personal, social, economic, educational and environmental benefits
to City residents.
Cultural Services Division consists of two Administrative Work
Units and an Arts component.
