MINOR
VARIANCE
Any property Owner who wants to build any building or structure,
or construct an addition to an existing building or structure and
is unable to conform to By-law requirements can apply to the Committee
of Adjustment for a Minor Variance. Application forms and any information
regarding procedures can be obtained by telephoning 905-832-8504
and ask for any one of the following extensions: 8002, 8394, or
8360.
NON-CONFORMING USE
This is dealt with by way of a MINOR VARIANCE
Application and is to permit the enlargement or extension of any
building or structure which has been in existence prior to the passing
of a By-law; to permit the use of any land, building or structure
for a purpose similar to the legal non-conforming use; or to permit
the use of any land, building or structure for any purpose defined
in general terms for a purpose that does not conform with the uses
permitted in the By-law. Application forms and any information regarding
procedures can be obtained by telephoning 905-832-8504 and ask for
any one of the following extensions: 8002, 8394, or 8360.
CONSENT
(SEVERANCES)
Applications are made to sever a parcel of land to either sell
in the future, for mortgage purposes, for a partial discharge of
a mortgage, to grant right-of-ways or easements over the land, etc.

obtained by telephone 905-832-8504 and ask for any one of the following
extensions: 8002, 8394 or 8360.
THE
TRCA PLANNING/DEVELOPMENT APPROVAL PROCESS
It is advised that you contact the TRCA prior to submitting
the Committee of Adjustment application, to ascertain whether or
not your property falls within an area that TRCA will require additional
fees.
Please be advised that the fee schedule has changed.

PRIOR TO SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION FORM TO COMMITTEE OF ADJUSTMENT
FOR PROCESSING YOU MUST DISCUSS YOUR APPLICATION WITH BUILDING
STANDARDS DEPARTMENT AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE
INFORMATION YOU ARE PROVIDING IS CORRECT. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL
RESULT IN YOUR APPLICATION BEING DELAYED AND HAVING TO BE RECIRCULTED
WITH THE PROPER INFORMATION.
