Operating the City of Vaughan’s streetlight network represents approximately 20 per cent of the City’s overall energy consumption.

The City is taking steps to reduce energy use and costs by changing approximately 25,000 streetlights from the current high pressure sodium to light-emitting diode (LED) technology through the City-wide LED Streetlight Retrofit Program.
